Math - Home Link 2.7 Partial Product Addition Read AR 20 Minutes sign BfB's Classroom Newsy Things: There are two worksheet about Sound, inn binders that we did not get to today. Please leave them in the binders and we will do them tomorrow in class. Thanks!! I'll send science tests home tomorrow. Most of the scores fell in the Developing percentile and a few at Beginning. Energy is a difficult subject to grasp hold of. It's probably the first time that they have been introduced to this type of vocabulary and subject matter. What I did see was kids being turned on to learning because of the subject matter and experiments!! That's 100% proficient in my book!! Saltwater vs Freshwater and Ice experiment
Two students thought that ice would melt faster in freshwater and 21 guessed saltwater. The ice melted faster in freshwater. It was interesting to see what happened when we added blue food coloring. I have a feeling that they will want to try this experiment at home. I've added the link to the youtube video that we watched related to this. Homework
Study for science, spelling, vocabulary (both science and reading) tests Rea AR Classroom Newsy Things: We reviewed for the science test this afternoon. The last question on the test will ask students to write a paragraph about what they have learned about Energy. We practiced writing today, and generated many good ideas. I've posted a few pictures on Twitter using #albanylearns. If you go to the home page and tap on this #, it should take you right to Twitter. Homework
Study for the science test that will be given on Friday. There was a lot of excitement about learning going on in the room!! I've added more pictures to the slide show on the home page as well Homework

Read 20 Minutes/Sign and date BfBks Study Science vocabulary on Energy and read ,or have some read to you, lesson one and two summaries (in binders) Classroom Newsy Things: We did two experiments today. One was called Chemical Energy in a bottle and the other Sandwich Bag Explosion. They both worked but the bag did not explode. We were all disappointed in that!! Sounds like many students want to do these experiments at home. Thought I'd give you a heads up!! * Tomorrow we will watch the movie Night At The Museum and munch on popcorn provided by the PTO. *No school Oct. 18th and 19th Homework
Read 20 Minutes - Sign and date BfB's Math home-link 2.3 Time was given in class to work on H.L. 2.3 and most are finished and handed in. A few students have two problems to finish up at home. Classroom Newsy Things: We started our "Energy" unit in science today. Everyone has three pages of vocabulary pages to study for the test that will be given next Thursday. There are 10 terms to know and the test will consist of matching the term to the definition. We finished lesson 1 today about potential and kinetic energy. Please keep all science papers in three ring binders. I hung a tennis ball attached to a string to the ceiling to demonstrate potential and kinetic energy. We went out to the playground to practice potential and kinetic energy in action on the swings and slide. Another thing that everyone was excited about was the Giant Newton's Cradle Giant Balance Balls that I used to show the transfer of energy. We bought it on Amazon and it was not expensive. Just a heads up... many students might be asking for an early Christmas present. |
