**Wear Black Tomorrow for I Love To Read Month's Outer Space Theme Spring Photos: Ludwig Photography - Wed March 18th, Envelopes will not go home prior to the picture date - instead we would like all students photographed and Ludwig will then provide a proof and an envelope to send home for parents to order if they would like. Poem Recitations - Next Week Wednesday and Thursday. Everyone chose a poem to memorize and they put it in their three ring binder. There's a lot of repetition and rhyme in most of the poems so don't be too alarmed if it looks like a lot to memorize. Everyone is pretty excited!! Some of these verbs need helpers like have, has, had, do does or did. Homework
Study Spelling and vocabulary I drew a picture of a beet growing in the garden, and musical notes for the beat. I'm trying to help them by saying don't EAT the bEAT. I also drew the peace sign and a pizza with a piece missing. Some are spelling it "peice" the rule is "I before e except after c. Ahh... tough words. Many students were not finished with the spelling worksheet pp 112-113. I asked them to bring it home to finish and return it tomorrow. Study facts Read AR Classroom Newsy Things: I took my amaryllis bulbs out of dormancy and brought one to school so that we could all watch it grow. I think they are so amazing!! Hopefully this one will grow big and beautiful again this year. *Thanks Nathan Pronk!! He opened the last lock on the lock box for us. It's part of the fun that goes along with I Love To Read month. My husband and I were lucky enough to go to Florida for a few days over the break, and we were able to collect shells for everyone. It feels good to share a little bit of sunny Florida with everyone in the classroom! Homework
Study for the Moon Phase Test using the write and wipe in binders. You could use the the cootie catchers, moon wheel, or the moon booklet that we made today to help you study. Read AR 20 or more minutes Fluency Timings :read through once and do 3 one minute timings. Study for the Moon Phase test. The test will be given on Wednesday. It will be exactly like the write and wipe practice sheet that is in binders. We have enough sleds, but you are welcome to drop your child's sled off at school and pick it up at the end of the day. This morning we were able to go to the BEAT to watch a play put on by the Jr. High. When we returned we made a booklet about shapes and explored acute, obtuse, and right angles. Everyone took home "It's snowing angles," but we did not do the back side of the worksheet, "Acrobatic Angles." It a fun way to learn angles so if you have time, please consider doing this worksheet with your child. Homework Read AR (It's I Love to Read Month and Ms. Eibensteiner has an "Outer Space" theme planned. Each class has a rocket taped to the wall by the office.
