Spelling - Practice new words for the test on Thursday Spelling words read through fast and fluent 3xs Vocabulary - Study new words and definitions for the test on Thursday No Home Link - We are still working on fractions Classroom Newsy Things: Volunteers for April 6th - We are able to take everyone who volunteered!! Notes are in binders. Drake Matuska, a first year medical student at the University of MN Duluth, came into our classroom to teach us about the brain. He brought in a real human brain for us to see and he had us do some experiments that helped us learn about brain functions. Homework
We did 8.6 Home Link in class but please review this with your child. Read AR 20 Minutes Study spelling and vocabulary for the tests tomorrow. Classroom Newsy Things: Don't forget your swimming gear for tomorrow. We worked with partners to complete a Venn Diagram about Athens and Sparta. Most students chose Sparta to rule Greece instead of Athens even though Athens attracted the best artists, had more scholars, and developed new ideas about architecture, science, and literature. Sparta had the biggest army and that was their reason for choosing it over Athens. Homework
Home Link 8.5 Front and Back - Dividing a circle into 6th may be difficult. I showed them how to divide a circle into 3rds by drawing lines from the center to 12:00, 4:00 and 8:00 and then dividing those parts again to create 6ths. Read AR 20 Minutes Classroom Newsy Things: Tomorrow is our Art day and we will not have swimming. The last two days of swimming will be Thursday and Monday. Tomorrow is Crazy Sock day in support of children with Downs Syndrome. No Home Link- We completed it in class. Read AR 20 minutes We took the spelling and the vocabulary test today. We will take the comprehension test on unit 5 week 1 tomorrow. Classroom Newsy Things: As a reward for I Love To Read Month, we were able to eat lunch in the library today. Everyone was so excited!! My son David came in to visit and help out with math this afternoon. He's a first year student at UND and is thinking about becoming a teacher. Homework
No Home Link -Since we are working on fractions, some of the home links will be completed in class. It always seems to be a difficult subject. Read AR 20 Minutes- New goals have been set and are in binders. Study for the spelling and vocab. Classroom Newsy Things: A letter concerning our St. John's Maple Syrup field trip on April 6th has been sent home today and only has to be returned if you would like to volunteer to be a chaperone. Spring pictures will be taken tomorrow morning. We worked on probability again today and rolled a die 20 times to see how often a 4 would be rolled and then we rolled two die to see how often the sum would be an even number. Homework

Classroom Newsy Things: Rewards for meeting or exceeding AR goals for the second trimester were given out today and as a special treat we ate lunch in the classroom. Tomorrow we will all set new goals for the third and last trimester of third grade. As part of our Ancient China unit everyone made and abacus. I made a chart showing the place value for each set of beads. They should have both in backpacks today.
